About Julia

Hi, I’m Julia — a counsellor with over fifteen years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and survivors of relational trauma.

My counselling journey began in 2006, when I volunteered as a telephone counsellor with Lifeline Australia. That early work affirmed what would become the core of my career: a deep commitment to showing up for people in their most vulnerable moments with compassion, clarity, and genuine human presence.

I completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Gender Studies at the Australian National University (2007), followed by a Graduate Diploma in Community Counselling at the University of Canberra (2008).

Over the next decade, I worked across a range of specialised fields, including domestic and family violence, perinatal mental health, addictions, and suicide prevention. These years shaped my understanding of trauma, relationship dynamics, and the complex systems people navigate when seeking safety and connection.

In 2018, I completed my Master of Social Work and went on to undertake specialist training in Integrative Couples Therapy through Relationships Australia, followed by a 12-month couples counselling internship.

I now work primarily with individuals and couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), helping people understand their relational patterns, strengthen emotional connection, and build healthier, more secure bonds.

Alongside my couples and individual work, I provide counselling and support for survivors of cultic dynamics and narcissistic abuse—an area of practice that grew organically from my passion for trauma-informed, spiritually aware recovery work.

Through my other practice, Transcend, I support clients in rebuilding self-trust, reconnecting with their inner grounding, and integrating the emotional and psychological impact of high-control relationships.

My approach is empathic, evidence-based, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection—both to ourselves and to the people who matter most.
